In 2008-2009 we worked with several architects to design a building that would accomplish several specific goals:
- An orphanage facility that would cater for up to 50 orphans.
- A community facility that would provide services for the local community such as medical and employment training services.
- Accommodation for single pregnant girls.
- A leadership training centre with residential and classroom accommodation for 20-30 Pastors/leaders.
- A church facility that would seat 100 attendees.
These goals have evolved over the years and the project is now much more substantial. Following conceptual difficulties with several architects in 2009 a new architect was appointed who has provided the professional services and conceptual plans required.
The new plans provide for the following:
- Accommodation for up to 80 orphans.
- Accommodation for up to 6 single pregnant women.
- 2 medical consultation rooms.
- Reception and project manager’s rooms.
- Church meeting room accommodating up to 200 people, along with toilets. This facility can also be used for commercial purposes.
- 3 community employment training rooms
- 2 kitchens and dining rooms
- Children’s lounge rooms
- Children’s library and study room
- 2 counselling/prayer rooms
- Short term accommodation for 40 pastors undertaking training intensives
- 2 multi-purpose classrooms
- Children's meeting area
- Accommodation for house parents and carers
- Accommodation for visiting teams - hotel style en-suite
- Garden and recreation areas
The building project can be undertaken in stages and involves 2 floors. A third floor auditorium is also possible in the future.

Maputo, Mozambique - Widows Project 'Seeds of Hope'
Project Partner: Ministerio Arco Iris
The home we have built is dormitory style and houses 8 widows and a carer. The refuge has a kitchen/dining area and a lounge. The widows will care for a garden, chickens, and will also do handicraft that will be both therapeutic and provide a small income stream.
The overall cost of this project is approximately $AUS 10,000 per year.
The cost per resident in the refuge is $AUS 24.00 per week to provide shelter, care, food, and supervised activities. This equates to 3 sponsors per widow, per month.
We need your help to sponsor these women who are in such desperate need.
Your $AUS 35.00 a month sponsorship contributes to providing accommodation, food, care, and basic medical treatment.
It is also possible for visitors who meet the HOHI requirements, to visit this project and assist in the care programmes.
