Surabaya Children's Project
Project Partner: Yayasan Kasih Anugerah Indonesia
Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city, has large numbers of children who are at risk. Many children are orphans or categorised as neglected by the government. The figures vary but estimates are that there are hundreds, possibly thousands of orphaned children living on the streets or in slums.
Yayasan Kasih Anugerah, in partnership with HOHI, opened a new children's centre in 2009. This home caters for 12 children, and will expand to 20 children.
A smaller home enables us to better cater for the needs of the children.
Each child in our residential care program requires three sponsors.
