To assist the home in providing these services we have recognised the need to acquire transportation. To date we have accumulated funds of almost AUD$10,500.00 and a further AUD$6,500 is needed to purchase the van and install extra seat belts.
The van we will purchase is a Daihatsu Gran Max that will seat 10 children with seat belts. Hiring transport has added considerably to our monthly budget for transportation (school, extra lessons, outings, Sunday School, visits to the doctor, purchasing supplies, etc), and we are often concerned about the safety of the children.
We also plan to build a multi-purpose Community Centre in Medan that will encompass a separate girls and boys orphanage facility, single pregnant mums facility, medical clinic, employment training rooms, non-residential children's project, and a training school. We have purchased the land and are in the final stages of design.
The Van will be very important to the Medan project, especially in light of the overall project development in Medan.

Medan Community Centre
For several years we have been moving toward accomplishing a vision of establishing a new community centre in Medan. We plan to build a multi-purpose Community Centre in Medan that will encompass:
separate girls and boys orphanage facilities;
carers' rooms;
study rooms;
recreation facilities;
a single pregnant mums facility;
a nursery;
a medical clinic;
several employment training rooms;
non-residential children's project; and
a training school.
This centre will be an important asset for local communities in Medan and will be a base for further development projects. We have purchased the land and are in the final stages of design.
We are seeking donors who will help with a further $AUS170,000, for the first stage. The total budget for furnishings, fencing, landscaping, government fees, for stage 1 is estimated to be around AUD$350,000.
