HOHI works with development partners to alleviate the suffering of women

Homes of Hope works in partnership with Ministerio Arco Iris (MAI) in Maputo Mozambique to care for impoverished widows in churches, the local community and through their garbage dump ministries.

These widows have no family to support them and without our will suffer terribly. The home we are building for them is dormitory style and will house eight widows and one carer. The refuge has a kitchen/dining area and a lounge. The widows will care for a garden, chickens, and will also do handicraft that will be both therapeutic and provide a small income stream.

The overall cost of this project is approximately $AUS10,000 per year. The cost per resident in the refuge is $29.00 per week to provide shelter, care, food, and supervised activities. This equates to 3 sponsors per widow, per month.

We need your help to sponsor these women who are in such desperate need. Your $39.00 a month sponsorship contributes to providing accommodation, food, care, and basic medical treatment. It is also possible for visitors who meet the HOHI requirements, to visit this project and assist in the care programmes.

If you would like to sponsor a widow please follow the link to PayPal. Alternatively you can complete the HOHI Projects Response form and return it to HOHI.

Becoming an advocate for women at risk

Women's News  reports that in developed countries 1 in 7300 women die giving life to babies.  In Africa alone 1 in 26 women die giving life. This astounding statistic is very disturbing.

The number one killer of young women in the developing world is not untreated disease, or even hunger. It is pregnancy and childbirth. Every year 500,000 women die while trying to give life. That’s one every single minute.
